AroView: Gael Garcia Bernal plays an ad executive who conceives a campaign to defeat Augusto Pinochet in Chile’s 1988 referendum in this unique, if cynical celebration of democracy and advertising.

Shot on 1980’s-style U-matic videotape stock, the low-rent aesthetic looks and feels authentic and appropriate, and the film’s treatment has a levity that reflects and compliments the ironic spirit of a campaign against a notorious dictator. Required viewing for students of either media or politics, while for others it’s an utterly fascinating and unique piece of political history turned into an accessible entertainment.
